The Armed Forces of Ukraine received four additional HIMARS systems from the United States.

Oleksii Reznikov, Ukrainian Defense Minister, announced this.

American-made highly mobile artillery missile systems are already in Ukraine.

The new batch of weapons arrived on the eve of the Ramstein meeting on support for Ukraine, which is scheduled for Wednesday, October 12.

“4 additional HIMARS from our U.S. partners have arrived! I thank U.S. President Joe Biden, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, and the entire American people. HIMARS time: good time for Ukrainians and bad time for the invaders,” Reznikov wrote on Twitter.

The White House announced the transfer of 4 additional HIMARS in early October when sharing the news about a new military assistance package for Ukraine.

This is Washington’s first military aid transfer since Russia’s announced annexation of four regions of Ukraine.

This aid package, with the value of $625 million, included:

  • 4 High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS);

  • 16 155mm Howitzers (probably M777);

  • 75,000 155mm artillery rounds;

  • 500 precision-guided 155mm artillery rounds (probably M982 Excalibur);

  • 1,000 155mm rounds of Remote Anti-Armor Mine (RAAM) Systems;

  • 16 105mm Howitzers (probably M119);

  • 30,000 120mm mortar rounds;

  • 200 MaxxPro Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles;

  • Claymore anti-personnel munitions;

  • 200,000 rounds of small arms ammunition;

  • Other equipment.

Ukraine is also negotiating with Washington on obtaining the used HIMARS systems. This would be necessary to speed up the supply of weapons.

Ukraine should receive 18 HIMARS systems from the United States. They will be purchased from the manufacturer, and not withdrawn from existing stocks of the American army.

The М142 HIMARS artillery missile system carries six GMLRS family precision missiles or one MGM-140 ATACMS short-range tactical ballistic missile.

HIMARS is designed to target locations of artillery systems, air and fire support, cargo transport, combat vehicles, and armored personnel carriers, and to provide fire support.
